The starting point for our sustainability work is conveyed by the three key words transparency, credibility and traceability. Transparency means giving the outside world insight into ICA Gruppen’s sustainability work. To achieve this, we work continuously to communicate what we have done and what we aim to continue doing in this area. Credibility is based on our own awareness of our responsibility and opportunities to influence, and of our strengths and weaknesses in this area. By working with traceability we make it clear where our products come from, how they have been transported and stored, what they contain and how the suppliers conduct their operations.
To contribute to and cooperate on global responsibility in sustainability, ICA Gruppen is a signatory of the UN Global Compact, where since 2004 we adhere to its ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour rights, the environment and anti-corruption. In recent years ICA Gruppen’s sustainability work has evolved in accordance with the UN’s Global Sustainable Development Goals, with a primary focus on goals 3, 5, 8, 12 and 13. This, combined with ICA Gruppen’s policies, forms the foundation of our sustainability work.
Every year we conduct a materiality analysis, which together with stakeholder dialogues helps define the issues in focus for our sustainability work.
To structure information surrounding ICA Gruppen’s sustainability work, the concept For a Good Tomorrow (“För en god morgondag”) is used, which aims to help convey a clearer picture of the work we are conducting and of the most pressing issues.
